Friday, July 30, 2010
On Friday, July 30, 2010, DAWN celebrated its third anniversary with a formal reception and dinner at the Beacon Hotel in Washington, DC.
With a full house of DAWNers & DAWNistas, DAWN began its celebration by officially launching its SEEDS Program, which provides mentorship, professional development and leadership programming to its mentors by upholding the Core Principles of Sisterhood, Excellence, Empowerment, Diversity & Service (SEEDS).
Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening a success!

DAWN’s first SEEDS initiative was with the launch of the DAWNistas Membership Program in January 2010. Fourteen young women were accepted into DAWN as DAWNistas and they were paired up with DAWNers for a peer to peer mentorship opportunity. Our DAWNers & DAWNistas have established relationships of their own and DAWN aims to provide the DAWNistas more opportunities through our Mentorship Department.
DAWN’s second SEEDS’ initiative is with the DAWN MOMs, an initative aimed at providing mentorship opportunities to our DAWNers. DAWN recognizes the role our very own mothers and mentors have served in helping us to become the strong, smart DAWNtastic women that we are today and we sought to honor them at our Third Annual Dinner. From Washington and Virginia, to New York, Kansas, Minnesota and Uganda, DAWN shared its birthday with our DAWN MOMs, who all delivered powerful and encouraging remarks.
DAWNers & DAWNistas have much to learn from our mothers and mentors and we are grateful to have them as our DAWN MOMs!
