How Can I Join DAWN?
Fall & Spring Membership Drives
DAWN holds its Membership Drives twice a year. Eligible applicants must apply online with a resume and brief 250-word bio. Applications are reviewed by the DAWN Executive Committee and applicants are notified of their status two weeks after the drive is completed. Accepted applicants must pay their annual membership dues to activate their membership.
Who can become a DAWNer?
• Any African diaspora female immigrant residing outside of Africa, or
• Daughter of an African diaspora immigrant parent, or
• Other woman of the African diaspora, and
• At least 25 years old; and
• Mid-career or junior professional in a field typically underrepresented by women from African diaspora communities, or
• Self-started entrepreneur, artist, or self-employed, and
• Proven commitment to African issues and/or advocating on behalf of African diaspora voices in the United States, and
• Proven record of community service and leadership skills
• Daughter of an African diaspora immigrant parent, or
• Other woman of the African diaspora, and
• At least 25 years old; and

• Self-started entrepreneur, artist, or self-employed, and
• Proven commitment to African issues and/or advocating on behalf of African diaspora voices in the United States, and

Annual Membership Fees
Each DAWN Member must pay an annual fee in order to enjoy the benefits and services provided by the organization.
DAWNers must pay their dues online after the Membership Drive to activate their membership.
- Membership dues for Washington Metropolitan area DAWNers are $50/year.
- For non-Washington metropolitan area members, dues are $30/year.
